Asking Questions Leads to Better Outcomes

It is now the beginning of February and week 3 is in the books. Time sure does fly when you are having fun! In class, we learned about worldview and community development. It was very informative and exciting to learn about how it only takes 1 person to change the course of an entire community or village! I did already know this, but it in order to impact change and make a difference, you need to know where to start. It fact, it is often with the best of intentions that we want to make a difference, but how much do we really know about the needs and wants of those whom we want to help? If we are not intentional in simply asking or doing some research, we may cause more harm than good. I kept being reminded how God doesn't call the equipped, but He equips the called. As I sit in class day-to-day, I feel like I am in preparation for what He is calling me to accomplish.

On Friday, I had an appointment with a cardiologist. Instead of driving to Anchorage which is almost 5 hours away, I was able to get an appointment in Soldotna which is about 1 and a 1/2 hours away. It was a beautiful drive along the coast. When I have my appointment at the end of the month, I will take pictures on the way there (I didn't bring my phone charger w/me to AK). The doctor told me my numbers were looking much better overall. I still do not have any definitive answers, but he wants to gather information for further review; I have an appointment this Monday to have an echo cardiogram. I will be finished wearing the heart monitor on Tuesday, mail it to wherever it needs to go and wait to hear about the results. I will follow-up with a heart specialist at the end of the month to see if anything further needs to be done. I am feeling much better and even my anxiety has subsided. Laughing until my stomach hurts, being surrounded by awesome community and remaining steadfast in His word has, and will continue, to help me get through the tough times.

I will be updating my financial needs and prayer requests next weekend. I have been well cared for and know the Lord is here in the midst of all that is going on with school and my heart, too. I will leave you with this verse I have been mediating on this past week:

Jeremiah 17:8

He is like a tree planted by the water,

That sends out its roots by the stream,

And does not fear when heat comes,

For its leaves remain green,

And is not anxious in year of drought,

For it does not cease to bear fruit.
